~~~ LL METHOD FOR BODY ~~~ :
The LL Method can be modified in different ways. First I will explain how to do it using traditional sunless tanners mixed in regular lotions. Next I will explain how to mix airbrush tanning solutions in regular lotions. Lastly I will explain how to mix airbrush tanning solutions with INFUSIUM 23 Leave In Hair Treatment and transfering the solution into an empty spray bottle for application.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Traditional ST/Regular Lotion Technique):
**Exfoliate well to get as close to pale as you can. This is important. Pre existing base tans with straight STs will fade poorly and get lizardy under the LL layers!
**Prepare LL Mixture as 1/3 sunless tanner to 2/3 regular lotion.
*Most regular lotions work well. Avoid lotions with chemical exfoliators like AHAs which will strip off your color.
*Water based lotions allow for easy mixing of ST with lotion and easy application with quick drying time.
*Any ST will work. Darker ones are best at the 1/3 to 2/3 ratio.
*If using a mousse, spray, or foam, just take off lid and pour liquid ST out of bottle into measuring cup and add regular lotion and mix well, It will end up runny though and drip on floor if not careful. (caution with these types since they contain more alcohol and skin drying ingredients which contribute to lizard skin)
*ST's with color guides will hardly be noticeable since so diluted. So you can go out in public with it on.
**"AirBrush Tanning Solutions" work very well for this method also.
(ABS/LOTION Technique):
*make ratio the same at 1/3 ABS to 2/3 regular lotion.
*ABS are more concentrated and come out darker than traditional lotion STs therefore the ratio might need to be more diluted.
*ABS are great because there is no DHA smell or stickiness.
**Mix well with spoon until creamy and pour into empty bottle or container with closeable lid.
**Before applying shake bottle well to mix.
**Apply LL Mixture all over body as if applying regular lotion.
(ABS/INFUSIUM Technique):
**Mixing your ABS with INFUSIUM 23 Leave In Hair Treatments works very well also. The ABS and INFUSIUM are both watery in consistancy and mix well together and can be transfered into an empty spray bottle.
*Spray the LL/INFUSIUM solution onto skin and rub in with your hands. This combo is great because it is so light on your skin and never leaves you feeling sticky like lotions do. It is also very moisturizing.
*Gloves are optional because mixture is so diluted and washes off easily from hands.
*Some people experience yellowed nails. Take baby wipes to nails afterwards or apply clear nail polish beforehand.
*no need to lotion trouble areas before or after application
*no need to rub in precisely or perfectly
**Take dry paper towel and wipe off knees, elbows, wrists, ankles or other trouble areas.
*I use baby wipes to clean arm pits and then apply deodorant.
*After rubbing mixture onto hands, take baby wipe and wipe off palms.
*When tanning hands, I find it helpful to apply regular lotion 15 mins prior to rubbing LL mixture over hands
*Same directions go for doing the feet.
*Get dressed as soon as you wish to. This is fool proof. Near impossible to make a mistake.
*DHA smell will be non existant because mixture is so diluted in pleasant smelling lotion.
**Shower at least 8 or 10 hours later.
*Use a nylon pouf daily to shower with. This provides a light gentle daily exfoliation that will help prevent lizard skin from forming without taking tan off. I avoid a washcloth since it's too abrassive to my skin.
*Don't use bar soaps as they will cause build up onto your skin and are very drying which will cause lizard skin. Use moisturizing shower gels instead.
**Repeat this process for about 3 days or so until you achieve your desired color.
**Once desired color is achieved, drop down to applying LL Mixture every 2 or 3 days with a light gentle exfoliation with nylon exfoliating gloves prior to applying your LL mixture.
**You may not need to a full heavy/hard core exfoliation as often or as aggressively because as your skin naturally exfoliates on its own you are replacing the old exfoliated tan with newly applied LL Mixture which is very diluted.
**Since LL Mixture is so diluted you may not get overly darkened areas or bad fading resulting in lizard skin. Therefore lizard skin and the need to exfoliate are less likely.
**If you still develop lizard areas, just use nylon exfoliating gloves and lightly scrub those problem areas daily until gone but also continue applying the LL mixture every 3 days or as desired. The lizard areas will go away and tan will soon even out nicely.
** I just buff the surface of my skin to remove ST buildup and to make my skin smooth before applying my LL mixture. I never go back to pale. There is always tan left after this light buffing and I continue reapplying the LL Mixture once every 3 days.
~~~ LL METHOD FOR FACE ~~~:
*LL Method for face is the same as for body. You'll need to find a facial moisturizer that is oil free.
*Stay away from moisturizers that contain Alpha Hydroxy which is a chemical exfoliator. It will strip off your outer layer of skin. You won't build any color.
*Apply LL Mixture to face daily. You may be able to drop down to every other day once desired color is achieved.
*ABS/INFUSIUM solution works very well on the face also without causing breakouts. The solution is very light and doesn't clog pores.
I will edit these instructions as the method is being tested and needs altering. Hope this helps.
